Iran: High unemployment among educated women
Unemployment rate among educated women of Iran has doubled and they are widely disappointed.
Presidential deputy Shahindokht Molaverdi depicted a grim picture of the situation of women in Iran in the final day of the meetings of “regional popular organizations – RPOs” in the northern city of Gorgan on January 4.
Molaverdi acknowledged that educated women are widely disappointed and that the unemployment rate for educated women has doubled.
Expressing frustration over Iran’s gender gap ranking --141st among 145 countries—she revealed that there has been a regression with regards to women who have not been able to continue their education.
She also admitted that the number of female heads of household in Iran is on the rise, presently standing at 2.5 million.

IRAN: Trade unionist Shahrokh Zamani found dead in his cell under suspicious circumstances

Iraniantrade unionist Shahrokh Zamani, a prisoner of conscience, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Sunday in Gohardasht Prison (Rajaei Shahr Prison) in the city of Karaj, north-west of Tehran.

Shohrokh Zamani, 51, a labor activist and a painter, was last arrested in June 2011. He was tortured in prison and on numerous occasions went on hunger strike to protest his brutal treatment and the inhumane prison conditions.

Iran: Poor woman died after being arrested by security forces

Fatemeh Nasseri, a beggar, died in detention after being arrested in Birjand, during the state security force mobilization to collect beggars across the city in southern Khorassan Province (northeastern Iran).

Her brother revealed that the middle-aged woman suffered from Asthma and used to use Salbotamol spray, but she finished her spray in prison and officials did not pay any attention to her deteriorating condition when she was very sick. Even the prison's doctor went to her one hour after she had already died.
