Iran: Victim of child marriage, victim of violence against women
Sakineh Ozbak, 15, was forcibly married to an old man when she was 14.
With a typical outbreak of quarrels in such marriages two weeks ago,
the husband beat up the 15-year-old girl and threw her down the third floor's balcony.
She has undergone surgery for a broken pelvis, broken jaw and a torn-up ear, so far.
The hospital’s cost is 7 million toumans which her father does not afford.
She has been abandoned in Shariati Hospital with no interventions by the police or any government agency.

Child marriages are sanctioned by law in Iran and violence against women is not considered a crime.

A man beat up her 15-year-old newly-wed daughter with the handle of the shovel in a bid to punish and dissuade the girl from divorcing her husband, but ended up killing her.
The murderer father confessed: "I was mad at my daughter. So, I picked the handle of the shovel and beat her up so much that she was wounded. I wanted to force her to stay with her husband. At midnight, she felt really bad and before we could do anything, she died." (State-run TNews.ir website, January 19, 2016)

Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages

Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages
Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages

"In the past two years, our statistics indicate that we have had marriages of girls under 10 years of age," said Shahindokht Molaverdi, presidential deputy on Women and Family Affairs. She said most of these marriages take place because of poverty and in borderline provinces.
According to the laws in Iran, the legal age of marriage is 13 for girls and 15 for boys, but if a father decides that he wants to wed his daughter in younger age, the law permits him to do so.
The data made available by the National Data Registry Organization, 75 children under 10 years of age were married in 2012. Also 29,827 girls between 10 and 14 years old were married.
The marriages of more than 31,000 girls under 15 years of age have been registered between March and September 2013. This is while many of the marriages with underage girls are not registered in Iran.

IRAN - DIRE CONDITIONS OF WOMEN IN IRAN

IRAN: WOMAN, 55, MOTHER OF THREE CHILDREN, ON DEATH ROW

The Iranian regime has transferred a woman in her fifties to solitary confinement in women’s Qarchak prisons near Varamin for implementation of her execution. Batool Karimi, 55, mother of two boys and a girl, has been in prison for four years on drug related charges before transfer to solitary cell. She is at the risk of imminent execution.

The mullahs ruling Iran hang prisoners
in public and in hidings for minor offences and bogus drug related charges while the regime officials themselves are involved in high scale and multi-million dollars trafficking and distribution of drugs inside the country and abroad.
