Iran: Criminal attacking woman with acid, is released on bail

SimaAfshar, 25, became victim of an acid attack in the Central Park of Dehdasht, in Kohgiluyeh (western Iran) on September 21, 2015.

Due to severity of injuries, she was taken to the special burns hospital in Ahwaz, but shortage of facilities and lack of proper care compelled Sima's brother to take her to Tehran for better treatment and surgery.
The woman who had splashed acid on Sima was released on bail, shortly afterwards, a measure that has outraged Sima's family. Her sister said in protest, "If law does not deal with this incident, such behavior will become institutionalized and the message to people is this: nothing can be done to counter acid attacks."

It should be noted that none of the criminals who previously carried out acid attacks on women have been arrested and punished so far. This time, the attacker is released, despite being identified and arrested. Apparently, the law enforcement authorities in Iran have not received instructions to punish these dangerous criminals who carry out one of the worst forms of violence against women.

Leaked classified bin Laden documents reveal Iran & al-Qaeda relations

Therehave been many reports about relations between Iran and the al-Qaeda senior leadership, especially on exchanging prisoners. However, it appears that new leaked documents are proving this with facts, Al Arabiya.net reported.

Documents obtained by the US following the 2011 assassination of bin Laden in Pakistan show al-Qaeda elements being very active in Iran.
Al-Qaeda in 2006 was seeking to open an office in Tehran, yet the skyrocketing price of opening such an office at that time prevented such a step, according to these documents.

Relations between Iran and al-Qaeda go back to the 1990s when this group was stationed in Sudan, since Tehran and Khartoum enjoyed warm relations at the time.

Iran - 2000 executions carried out in Iran under Rouhani

Irish lawmaker: Iran's 'despotic' regime must be held accountable
The mullahs' regime in Iran continues to execute more of its citizens per capita than any other UN member state. Some 2000 people have been executed under Rouhani in the past two years.
Iran is a wonderful country. It has been at the bedrock foundation of the civilization of the human family in the Indo-European context. Some 75 million people live there, roughly half and half men and women, but the country is in the iron grip of a despotic regime that is iron fisted in its narrow fundamentalism by any measure, and it is choking the breath of the people of Iran . Is not it a shame to think that in Canada alone 30,000 doctors work there having qualified in Iran. Something is wrong when the conduct of a country run by a fundamentalist regime masquerading under parliamentary democracy under the leadership of state of President Rouhani who just does what he is told. It is up to us in the various countries from which we come to talk in plain talk in plain images of the suppression of such a wonderfully large people. The other speakers have told us about the summary executions. The presumption of guilt rather than innocence and proper distributions of justice. And the microcosmic expression of that pan-suppression of that people is seen in Camp Liberty [in Iraq, which houses thousands of members of the Iranian opposition PMOI, or MEK.

Iran: University graduates resort to street peddling

With the face of poverty turning  in Iran, a considerable number of women turn to peddling to compensate for their financial straits. Among these peddlers are educated women who have finished high level college education.

Leila, 45 with two children, is a graduate of Computer Sciences. She says she is satisfied with her income from peddling in underground metro stations but complains about the "not-proper" approaches of some passers by.

Maryam, 27, has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. "I have very low income and cannot support my family," she says. "Since I could not find a job in my area of education, I had to resort to peddling."

Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages

Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages
Iran: Official statistics on child girl marriages

"In the past two years, our statistics indicate that we have had marriages of girls under 10 years of age," said Shahindokht Molaverdi, presidential deputy on Women and Family Affairs. She said most of these marriages take place because of poverty and in borderline provinces.
According to the laws in Iran, the legal age of marriage is 13 for girls and 15 for boys, but if a father decides that he wants to wed his daughter in younger age, the law permits him to do so.
The data made available by the National Data Registry Organization, 75 children under 10 years of age were married in 2012. Also 29,827 girls between 10 and 14 years old were married.
The marriages of more than 31,000 girls under 15 years of age have been registered between March and September 2013. This is while many of the marriages with underage girls are not registered in Iran.
