This week marks the 44th anniversary of the execution of the founders of Iran’s main opposition group.
On 25 May 1972, the founders and leaders of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK), were executed by death squads after months of imprisonment and torture from the regime of the Shah.
The MEK, a group which sought, and still seeks, a secular Iranian government, was considered one of the main threats to the regime of the Shah.
The Shah’s secret police, SAVAK, arrested all MEK leaders and most of its members in a series of raids in 1971.
The founders, Mohammad Hanifnejad, Said Mohsen, and Ali-Asghar Badizadegan along with two other leaders, Mahmoud Askarizadeh, and Rasoul Meshkinfam stood firm in the face of the Shah’s regime and paid with their lives.
The origins of the MEK
The MEK was founded on September 6, 1965, by engineers; Hanifnejad, Mohsen, and Badizadegan. All three were once members of the Liberation Movement; created by Medhi Bazargan in 1961 and outlawed, along with other pro-democracy groups, in 1963 following the June Uprising in which opponents to the Shah’s regime were gunned down in the streets.
The men wanted to create a new path to democracy and began by meeting with like-minded friends for a twice-weekly discussion group focusing on religion, history, philosophy, and revolutionary theory.
They sought to discover the true interpretation of Islam which, they have shown, is incredibly democratic and compatible with modern ideals. The MEK views freedom, human rights and the equality of people regardless of gender, race or religion as commitments that were set out in the Quran, in teachings from the Prophet Muhammad and by other senior members of the faith.

Rouhani is travelling to Europe to cover up the regime's weakness and isolation. He is trying to put up a moderate face to cover up the executions in Iran and the mullahs' role in the massacre of Syrians
Dear friends,
Happy New Year! I hope the New Year would be a year of progress and relief for France, a year of peace and tolerance for the world, and a year of overcoming religious dictatorship for the Middle East and Iran.
In the start of the year, let us remember all those who lost their lives as a result of extremist crimes in 2015, including the political prisoners executed in Iran, Camp Liberty martyrs, and victims of terrorist attacks in January and November in France.
Let us pay tribute to them by observing one minute of silence.
I am very pleased to see you, ladies and gentlemen, the mayors and elected representatives of France, here at the headquarters of the Iranian Resistance.  Mayors and elected officials of France are representatives of the most significant institutions of democracy in this country. They have always stood beside the Iranian Resistance and this has been really admirable.
You have protested against violations of human rights and suppression of women in Iran. You have supported Ashraf and Camp Liberty when they were attacked by the Iranian regime's operatives in Iraq. You were at the forefront of the campaign of justice for the Iranian Resistance both in the case of June 17th attack which was terminated last year and the cases of terrorist designations which were reversed in all countries.
The declarations signed by 14,000 mayors and elected representatives of France in support of the Iranian Resistance, are very precious documents. They express the great values of France.
At this point, let us remember the friends who are not among us any more: Adrian Zeller, Mourice Bouscavert and also Abbe Pierre who we commemorate his first anniversary today. They played a valuable role in our struggle.
Also your political stances over the years have been admirable. Time and again, you warned against a number of threats: the mullahs' nuclear weapons; Islamic fundamentalism; violations of human rights in Iran and the mullahs' domination of the region.

Maryam Rajavi calls on all Muslims to unite against terrorism and extremism under the name of Islam
In a ceremony commemorating victims of terrorist attacks in Paris and in solidarity with the people of France held on Saturday, November 21, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect Maryam Rajavi reiterated:
The November 13 tragedy demonstrated that there are two opposing fronts; freedom-loving people and advocates of democracy and separation of religion and state, tolerant and democrat Muslims versus tyrants, savages, fanatics, ISIS, Bashar Assad and the Iranian regime.
Mrs. Rajavi said: Muslims who believe in democracy are the most effective force which could fight and defeat the global danger of Islamic fundamentalism.
She called on all Muslims, particularly Muslims in France, to unite in a front against terrorism and extremism under the name of Islam.
In this solidarity event at the Iranian Resistance's headquarters in Auvers-sur-Oise, Mrs. Rajavi rejected the idea of cooperating with Assad to eliminate Daesh. She said: The very existence of Daesh from day one has depended on Bashar Assad and the Iranian regime. Two parties will be seriously hurt by Bashar Assad’s ouster, one is Daesh which would lose its breeding grounds. The other is the Iranian regime whose regional front would crumble and disintegrate.

Mrs. Rajavi said: On the one hand, Daesh slaughters dozens of young people in the terrorist carnage in Paris, on the other, the Tehran regime rejoices this anti-human crime and threaten that if France does not accept continued rule of Bashar Assad, more attacks will be on the way.

Edmond Spaho: Albania supports democracy in Iran

Edmond-Spaho
Edmond-Spaho
Edmond Spaho, Vice President of the Albanian Parliament, says he and his country will always support the Iranian people and Resistance in their struggle for freedom anddemocracy in Iran.
"I know that 120,000 political activists have been executed in your country [Iran] for their belief in democracy," Mr. Spaho told a major conference in Paris on human rights in Iran on October 10 on the occasion of the World Day Against the Death Penalty. He was referring to the 120,000 members and supporters of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, or MEK).
"I also know that under [Hassan] Rouhani, the so-called moderate president of the regime, 2000 people have been executed in just two years."
"I know freedom of speech does not exist in your country at all. I know that freedom of religion also means nothing" in Iran.

Iran - 2000 executions carried out in Iran under Rouhani

Mr. Peter Mathew
Mr. Peter Mathews
Irish lawmaker: Iran's 'despotic' regime must be held accountable
The mullahs' regime in Iran continues to execute more of its citizens per capita than any other UN member state. Some 2000 people have been executed under Rouhani in the past two years.
Iran is a wonderful country. It has been at the bedrock foundation of the civilization of the human family in the Indo-European context. Some 75 million people live there, roughly half and half men and women, but the country is in the iron grip of a despotic regime that is iron fisted in its narrow fundamentalism by any measure, and it is choking the breath of the people of Iran . Is not it a shame to think that in Canada alone 30,000 doctors work there having qualified in Iran. Something is wrong when the conduct of a country run by a fundamentalist regime masquerading under parliamentary democracy under the leadership of state of President Rouhani who just does what he is told. It is up to us in the various countries from which we come to talk in plain talk in plain images of the suppression of such a wonderfully large people. The other speakers have told us about the summary executions. The presumption of guilt rather than innocence and proper distributions of justice. And the microcosmic expression of that pan-suppression of that people is seen in Camp Liberty [in Iraq, which houses thousands of members of the Iranian opposition PMOI, or MEK.

Maryam Rajavi: Iran's catastrophic water shortage product of regime's policies

Mrs.Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, described thecatastrophe of water shortage in Iran a consequence of Iranian regime's antinationalistic policies and the unbounded plunder, jobbery and corruption of this regime's leaders and the revolutionary guards (IRGC) in wasting country's assets in nuclear projects and export of terrorism and fundamentalism. She emphasized: The first step in saving the country from this crisis unparalleled in Iran's history is to topple the religious fascism and establish democracy.
