London, 26 Aug - A letter addressing the US President Barack Obama and General Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary, received on August 19, warns against another attack on Camp Liberty in Iraq where Iranian political dissidents are claiming shelter.

According to a guest column in Augusta Free Press by Prof. Raymond Tanter (former member of the U.S. National Security Council Staff) and Col. (Ret.) Wes Marten (former antiterrorism/force protection for coalition forces in Iraq), the letter was signed by “a bipartisan group of 36 former national security officials.”

Prominent figures of the U.S. politics, including Ed Rendell and Mayor Rudy Giuliani, were among those who had signed the letter. The letter expressed fear of another attack on Camp Liberty in Iraq, organised by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Despite the extreme danger that the dissidents of Iran’s ruling regime are facing at Camp Liberty, it will not be the first time that they come under such a threat. Following the July 9 rally, hosted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran in Paris, which attracted a following of 100,000 supporters, the media in Iran reported that “Camp Liberty must be targeted once again with a number of missiles,” according to Otagh-e-Khabar.

Following tonight’s missile barrage on Camp Liberty by militias affiliated with the terrorist Quds Force, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, hailed the heroic perseverance of the residents of Camp Liberty and wished a quick recovery for those wounded in the criminal attack.

She said that the missile attack on Camp Liberty, especially following an inhumane eight-day siege, blocking fuel, food and medicine from entering the camp, demonstrated that the religious dictatorship ruling Iran is terrified of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Iranian Resistance, which it views as an existential threat.

For this reason, Mrs. Rajavi noted, the mullahs’ regime opposes any solution for Camp Liberty residents that would ensure their safety and security and tries to obstruct it. The only acceptable options, as far as the regime is concerned, are to either compel Camp Liberty residents to surrender and abandon their struggle or to physically eliminate them.

She called on the UN Security Council, the European Union and their member states to decisively condemn the criminal missile attack on Camp Liberty. Mrs. Rajavi said now that no doubt remains as to the Iranian regime’s intentions to cause more bloodshed at Camp Liberty, there is added urgency for the United States and the United Nations to take action to guarantee and provide safety and security for the residents of Camp Liberty until such time when all of them have departed Iraq. She emphasized that this would be consistent with the repeated and written guarantees the U.S. and the UN have given regarding the safety and security of Camp Liberty residents.

More than 50 missiles rained down at Camp Liberty, several of which landed outside the camp. The assault caused major destruction and fire in the camp, with missile craters seven feet wide and five feet deep. Based on reports received until midnight, 40 resident had been injured in the attack.

Syrian opponent chides Iran’s support for Assad

London, 10 May - A senior member of Syria’s democratic opposition has said that the fight against Bashar al-Assad is a joint battle with Tehran. George Sabra from the High Negotiations Committee (HNC) told Simaye Azadi (INTV), an Iranian opposition television channel, that the IranianIranian opposition was an ally.

NCRI - The mullahs' regime in Iran will collapse once Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad is toppled, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, told the pan-Arab daily Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday.

In a major interview that took up a full page of the newspaper, Mrs. Rajavi said that the Iranian regime is founded on three main pillars: obtaining a nuclear bomb, absolute domestic suppression and export of terrorism and extremism abroad.

Mrs. Rajavi pointed out that Tehran’s strategy is based on interference in the internal affairs of other countries, warmongering and export of terrorism; however, the regime’s regional plots failed after the start of the Decisive Storm operation against its proxies.

 “The Iranian regime can be defeated once and for all in Bahrain if it is confronted with a decisive alliance formed by regional countries,” Mrs. Rajavi said, adding that the Iranian regime is close to drowning in the quagmire of Syria’s civil war.

Mrs. Rajavi pointed out that the Iranian regime would collapse consequentially should al-Assad be toppled in Syria, which is why Iran's regime has been trying to keep Assad in power at any cost.

 “If Assad falls out of power in Damascus, then the Iranian regime will evidently follow and collapse in Tehran,” Mrs. Rajavi said.

 “It’s dying,” Mrs. Rajavi said, expressing the current state of affairs of the Iranian regime. “It has faced defeat in Yemen. The fronts in Syria and Iraq are in effective escalation, and the regime has sent 60,000 Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) soldiers and affiliated militias to fight in Syria,” Mrs. Rajavi added.

When asked about the Iranian regime's nuclear danger, Mrs. Rajavi explained that the regime has only “temporarily” lost its ability to manufacture a nuclear arsenal and will soon resume what it had long planned for.

While few will deny the principle that compromise is the essence of politics and that pragmatic solutions can be helpful within any democratic, pluralist society, this week's visit to Iran by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will, under the prevailing circumstances, send a totally inappropriate message to the ayatollahs, Lord Maginnis of Drumglass argues.

"Compromise at the cost of integrity should be not only shunned but guarded against, particularly when that compromise comes at the expense of dignity and freedom," Lord Maginnis wrote on Monday on the UK website Politics Home.

Dear friends in the French houses of parliament,

Honorable supporters of the Iranian Resistance!

In the beginning of the Iranian New Year concurrent with the advent of spring, I wish you, your families and the great nation of France, a year filled with progress and advancements.

The New Year's celebration or Nowruz has been the most important feast of Iranians for thousands of years. Nowruz literally means the renewal of the nature, time and year, and the people's hearts, visions and fate. In fact, this makes up part of the Iranian people's outlook on the world that does not tolerate the status quo and calls for change for better.

The mullahs' religious fascism has not been able for the past 37 years to prevent the celebration of Nowruz. And Iranians have celebrated Nowruz more enthusiastically than ever with their message and demand of regime change and demise of the clerical regime. This has been the Iranian people's consistent desire over the past year demonstrated in 6500 acts of protests.  bragged about bringing about moderation, instead he brought about more executions in Iran and more war in Syria.

Now, he wants to spread the mullahs' repression to Europe. Just a few days ago, he cancelled his visit to Austria because the Austrian Government turned down the Iranian regime's demand to prevent the demonstrations of supporters of the Iranian Resistance. Rouhani fears public expression of outrage over his visit similar to what happened in France.

The mullahs said people would have greater purchasing power after the nuclear accord, but the assets released after lifting of the sanctions went to the coffers of the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and was spent on the wars in Yemen, Syria and Iraq, leaving the people of Iran ever more destitut

Today, the regime has at least 60,000 troops and paramilitary forces in Syria. The mullahs detest the present ceasefire and seek to keep Bashar Assad in power by destroying the opposition. However, a victory in Syria will no longer be conceivable for the mullahs.

A Brussels-based NGO has condemned Iran’s regime for broadcasting “sarcastic” reports on its state television about the deadly terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital on 22 March.

The Alliance to Renew Cooperation among Humankind (ARCHumankind) said in statement that it remains “outraged that Iranian State television would make a mockery of the High Representative Vice President Federica Mogherini on the basis of her human reaction to those who had lost their lives and were targeted by ISIL acclaimed terrorists.”

“The channel continued their ridicule by insinuating that Europe ‘only had themselves to blame’ and that perhaps now Europe might ‘feel close-up the fear and horror that the Syrian people have endured over the past 5 years, created by the interferences of their (European) politicians’,” the March 30 statement by ARCHumankind added.

 “These acts committed by Jihadist militants are acts of heinous violence and the Iranian State television implying that ‘European decision-makers are supporting terrorist acts’ can only be seen as an incitement for the continuation of the Jihadi aggression against Europe.”

Wednesday, March 2, 2016, the Iranian Resistance's President-elect Maryam Rajavi attended a meeting at the European Parliament entitled, "EU policy on Iran after Nuclear Accord". The meeting was presided by MEP Gerard Deprez, chairman of the Friends of a Free Iran inter-parliamentary group in the European Parliament.

A considerable number of members of the European Parliament and members of the Parliament of Belgium as well as the representative of the Syrian opposition coalition took part in the meeting and made speeches. They expressed support for the Iranian Resistance and abhorrence over the undemocratic elections in Iran. The deputies underlined the fact that elections are meaningless under a religious dictatorship and the West must not be deceived by such repetitive theatrics that they have already experienced. There are no moderates in the Iranian regime but there are suppression, religious and ethnic discrimination, interference in the affairs of other countries and warmongering in the region and the world.

Extremism under the banner of Islam is a fatal epidemic expanding throughout the world because it has not been confronted. To defeat this epidemic, a comprehensive approach is vital.

Since the 1990s we have been warning that Islamic fundamentalism is the new global threat.

Today, there is a real concern about Daesh, but it should be noted that its expansion is a product of two developments in the region:

The Iranian regime's occupation of Iraq after the war in 2003 and the brutal crackdown on Sunnis by the mullahs' puppet government in Iraq.

Suppression of Syrian people and dissidents by Bashar Assad's government, backed and led by the mullahs' regime.

Therefore, if it was not for the Iranian regime's domination over Iraq and Syria, if the Sunnis were not suppressed in Iraq, if Bashar Assad's dictatorship did not exist, Daesh would not have emerged as a threat.

With the inception of the mullahs' rule in 1979, a concrete, practical model was created for all fundamentalist groups. The history of the past 37 years proves that no other factor has been as effective as a ruling government acting as a role-model for the expansion of fundamentalist groups. Particularly that the mullahs actively try to create these groups and guide them ideologically.

The European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA) calls upon the UN, US and EU to learn the lessons of Ramadi and not allow the wanton slaughter of the Sunni population of Mosul in the looming battle to liberate that city. Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has conducted an international tour to bolster support for the impending battle for Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, which was captured by ISIS (Daesh) in June 2014. Abadi visited Washington DC, pleading with Obama for more US airstrikes and for US military personnel to train Iraqi forces. He also wants military equipment and cash. Abadi also visited Erbil in Northern Iraq, where he asked Kurdish President Masoud Barzani to pledge assistance from the Peshmerga in the forthcoming battle to liberate Mosul.

Mosul is in Nineveh Province, Northern Iraq; it is home to over two and a half million people. Strict restrictions have been placed on the local population with only trusted traders being allowed to leave and return to the city. The remaining, largely Sunni population has been held hostage. Daesh captured vast quantities of modern American weaponry when the Iraqi army fled and the city has become an almost impregnable fortress. US military commanders who are advising the Iraqis estimate that it may take another year before Mosul can be recaptured.

From the standpoint of the ruling regime and its dictated rules:

Women's most important responsibility is homemaking and raising children.

Women cannot leave their homes or travel abroad without their husbands' permission.

Women covering up is an essential principle which must be observed and safeguarded.

Women are not entitled to custody of their children.

Women's main occupation should not be jobs and employment.

Women must not sing since their voice is "Satanic".

Women must not enter sports stadiums since they are male environments.

Women must not defend themselves against rape otherwise they are executed.

Women are not trust worthy enough to be granted sensitive responsibilities.

 And the list goes on…

A brief glance over women's rights in today's Iran, leads us to conclude that women are sub-humans who virtually do not have any rights in life; but what is the truth?

The truth is that Iranian women have stood up to the mullahs' massive repression and have never surrendered to the misogynous regime.

Many died under torture, were executed by firing squads or kissed their hanging noose but did not budge and iota on the most important demand and needs of their nation, that is national sovereignty and democratic freedoms.

Many preferred to spend long years behind bars in the cold of dungeons and prison cells and go on hunger strike, forsaking their homes, families and loved ones. Others rose up everywhere in any factory, university and school to demand their rights.

Therefore, it could be rightly said that the most prominent distinction between the Iranian Resistance and the regime ruling Iran is on women's issue.

In 1985, the National Council of Resistance of Iran adopted a platform on the rights of women containing 13 articles. Then in September 1988, the Iranian Resistance's President-elect Maryam Rajavi completed that plan and offered a new ten-point plan on the rights of women to guarantee women's rights in the free Iran of tomorrow.

Contrary to the misogynous laws of the clerical regime, the plan recognizes all rights of women as equal and independent human beings and provides them the opportunity to advance in education, science, society, economy and politics to the highest levels.

British parliamentarians present Ms.Rajavi a declaration on adoption of a decisive Iran policy

More than 200 cross-Party MPs and Peers today called on the UK government to adopt a firm policy towards Iran and make any improvement in bilateral relations conditioned on an end to human rights abuses and regional meddling. The announcement was unveiled at a meeting attended by a delegation of eight MPs and one member of the House of Lords with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, north of Paris at the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The meeting on Friday and the policy recommendations come as Iran’s regime has faced scrutiny by United Nations bodies over its abysmal human rights record and exactly two weeks before Iran's Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts sham elections, whose candidates are strictly filtered and unrepresentative of the people’s desires.

Iran has the highest per capita execution rate in the world. Political suppression has intensified over the past two years under the presidency of Hassan Rouhani. Iran continues with its destructive meddling in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

Iran - Patrick J. Kennedy: The illusion of Iranian moderation

Former US Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy has written in the Thursday edition of the Providence Journal about how Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is not at all “moderate”, despite Western perception, and that such a gap between perception and reality has existed for “more than three decades.”

“Countless instances since the 2013 election of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani—including most recently the state-sanctioned torching of the Saudi embassy in Tehran — should have dispelled the notion that we are dealing with a moderate reformist at the helm of the Islamic Republic,” Mr Kennedy writes. “Sectarian conflict is on the rise with Iran backing Syria’s Assad, Hezbollah, an anti-American insurgency in Yemen and radical Shia factions in Iraq.”

The former Congressman noted how these developments “have proven the accuracy of analyses from sources like the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which insisted from the start that moderation was not a realistic prospect under the existing theocratic regime.”

“Indeed, the illusion of a “moderate” Iranian president has persisted for more than three decades, despite its nonexistence in reality. Rouhani is only the latest to artfully exploit this fantasy and play into a naïve, aspirational worldview among many in the West about Tehran's behavior and intentions.”

Interview with Tahar Boumedra: Iran regime is not reformable

The former head of the United Nations human rights office in Iraq, Dr. TaharBoumedra, on Wednesday rejected claims that the Iranian regime’s president Hassan Rouhani is a moderate and said that Iran’s fundamentalist regime is “not reformable.”

In an interview with ncr-iran.org, Dr. Boumedra appealed to European leaders to focus on the appalling human rights situation in Iran in light of Rouhani’s planned trip to France and other European countries at the end of January.

“Moderation under the current Iranian constitution is meaningless because it is a constitution program that adopts violations of human rights, including torture, and the ‘export of the revolution’ as a means of governance in Iran,” Dr. Boumedra said.

“It is impossible to qualify a member of the current Iranian government as a moderate,” added Dr. Boumedra, who last September published a 50-page report on the human rights situation in Iran in 2015.

He pointed out that Rouhani and all the members of his administration are “committed to a regime with a constitution that is based on Sharia [Law] as interpreted by a group of mullahs under the leadership of the Supreme Leader. This interpretation is not the mainstream Shia or Sunni Islam. It is an interpretation that does not belong to this era.”
